Windows 10 End of Support: What You Need to Know

Windows 10 End of Support

Introduction

Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. After that date, the operating system will no longer receive security updates or technical assistance. At Solutions Nord TI, we’ve analyzed what this means for individuals and businesses still running Windows 10.

Observed Event

Windows 10 was first released in 2015 and became one of Microsoft’s most widely used operating systems. However, after ten years of service, Microsoft is ending regular updates for all editions, including Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Education.

This means that devices still running Windows 10 after October 2025 will become vulnerable to new security threats, as no further patches or updates will be issued.

Our Analysis

From our IT support experience, many organizations continue to rely on Windows 10 due to hardware compatibility and application stability. However, continuing to use it past the support deadline introduces serious cybersecurity risks — especially for businesses connected to the internet.

Microsoft is encouraging users to upgrade to Windows 11 or future versions that meet current hardware and security standards (such as TPM 2.0). For older hardware that cannot upgrade, extended paid support (ESU) options may be available, but these will only delay the inevitable transition.

Suggested Fix or Advice

If your hardware cannot be upgraded, consider isolating legacy systems from the internet or running them in virtualized environments for safety.

Our Conclusion

Windows 10 served users well for nearly a decade, but the end of support marks a necessary step toward stronger security and modernization. We recommend planning your migration as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition and continued protection.
